Pros
Paycheck. Bonuses. Staff. Caring attitude between hourly employees.
Cons
I hope to never have another experience like the one I've had with Waffle House. Long hours don't cut it. If you have a family, prepare to not spend time with them for weeks to months. You will be on the phone constantly, ensuring you have coverage, and doing the work of your District Managers, in hopes it's in preparation for a promotion, that never comes. They will hire from outside the company almost every time, as most companies do. I worked for 4 years and then put in a request for an interview/evaluation for promotion to District Manager. Though I had won awards, and made close to 10K more than other managers due to making my bonuses just about every month, I received 1s and 2s on my evaluation form. However there was no indication I was failing to meet high standards in those areas, as no one ever voiced any complaints, or offered constructive criticism, or ways they expected me to improve. I've watched several marriages fail due to, in part, the incredible lack of "family friendly" Waffle House claims to be, my own teetered on the brink. When I finally had enough I decided to leave, the only thing said, and to my face, was, "How can you do us like that?" There was no indication senior management appreciated the 5 years of my life they had, just that I hadn't done enough for them. Waffle House is the perfect job for someone single, or someone just looking for a paycheck who is willing to work restaurant hours.
