Pros

Job security, I never had to worry about getting laid off, I had a set schedule and could get requested days off. Got along with most of my coworkers.

Cons

No work life balance, worked 4/10s (Friday-Monday). Hated the clientele, was robbed at knife point when leaving post shift one day. Lots of fights and lots of cops called. Hateful drunks. Got called in a lot. Never guaranteed my days off, but overtime was nice. Pay was never adjusted regardless of how much or little i made in tips and when I asked i was brushed aside. Being responsible for washing dishes, cooking, serving, deep cleaning was absolute hell when it was busy and we were understaffed. No way in heck should waitstaff be stuck doing so much for so little pay. Lots of drama between staff, but that comes from too many uneducated types working together. Never got to move up in company regardless of skill or education, definitely based on favoritism. Made 2.35 an hour to start, left at 4.10 3 years later. Never had a holiday off and was expected to work during a natural disaster without power.

Pros

Solid pay for the industry Okay benefits Employee stock purchase plan Pretty consistent hours The actual work is difficult, but fun after you get good at it. Upward momentum is difficult, but the pay scales very well if you work your way up into management. Prepare for intense work if you do though.

Cons

They hire everyone, and your team will make or break your experience. Genuine safety concerns on 3rd shift. You need to be prepared for people to act out. Senior management only have operation management skills. They are not good "people" managers at all. Only "number" managers.
