Pros
Most students are wonderful to work with. There are occasional students who don't do their work and try to blame you for their failures, but most are a pleasure to work with. The newer buildings and technology is also a plus.
Cons
Worst bureaucracy I've seen in my 25 years in education. Useless paperwork, reports, & inefficient practices. I really felt like I was back working in a high school. The full-time salaries and adjunct pay rates are among lowest in the nation. NC healthcare benefits are horrendous. The administration is overrun with dishonest Republicans who micromanage (go figure with the their Big Govt arguments). I saw several progressive-minded (and long-time) employees forced out by younger less experienced admins. They use fear tactics to control staff & faculty. Dysfunctional culture and phony cliques not welcoming to outsiders or those who are more accomplished. Least academic freedom I've ever seen. Books, syllabi, tests, They want everything standardized. It's agony.
