It could be the best employer, but they're a little too greedy. - Asset Protection Assistant Store Manager Walmart Employee Review

Pros

You get good benefits. Insurance is not expensive at all compared to other employers. 401k available and Wal-Mart matches up to 6%. PTO- the longer you've been with the company the faster you accrue pto. A salaried person with 7 years with the company gets about 6 weeks of pto.

Cons

They definitely overwork you. $48k a year is not worth becoming salaried. With the amount of hours you put in (minimum of 50 hours but often times 60-70hours per week) once you do the math, you end up getting paid about $16/hour. You dont get to spend time with your family because the little time you have left of the day, you just want to sleep your stress away and before you know it it's the next day already and gotta put another hectic 10+hr shift. No work/life balance.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
