Pros

Very nice associates. Discount not to bad. Good for a first job or to learn retail.

Cons

Low pay. Not the best benefits. To much favoritism involved when picking people for department manager openings and for schedules. Management does not talk to each other and sends mixed signals. If a member of management does not like you they will make your working conditions tough by bad schedules, "coaching" (write ups and verbal chewing out) and some have been openly rude. Only hire people with "open" availability at the store where I worked unless you know someone in management. No full-time, only part-time workers now. Way to much freight is ordered with not enough associates to stock the shelves.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
