It all starts with management - Sales Associate Walmart Employee Review

Pros

It *used* to be an okay place to work. They give some credits (which translate to increased starting pay) depending on past work experience. Discount on most merchandise (not applicable for clearance or most grocery items.)

Cons

Severe problems with, at least, my store management. There was one particular manager that I was having problems with and he wouldn't stop harassing me until I was fired. I've had no problems with Walmart until I transferred into that store and the write-ups I had, including the firing, were all from this same manager. The other managers in the store either didn't know about the problem I've had with this manager or they distanced themselves from the problem.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
