Pros

Can be good pay for the area.

Cons

After working many years at the grocery distribution center in Clarksville AR in various positions I can state the following: Management at this facility is useless. Virtually all upper level management is an 'old boys' network of favoritism and mostly keeping the seat of a chair warm. In handling of the commodities at this grocery center there is literally no attention to maintaining quality in all perishable or dry goods. Everything is about how fast you work, not about work ethic nor quality. The amount of product damage and waste in this facility is horrendous. The operations management group in particular is comprised of local people who have been with the company many years and are merely padding their paycheck. Suggestions for better ways to maintain quality, improve efficiency, and reduce waste are completely ignored. Good workers are fired all the time simply because they aren't liked or disagree with the way something is being done. Wal Mart could do a much better job of managing it's business and providing good value to the employee and the consumer.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
