Pros

Casual dress, some flexibility on hours

Cons

Where do I begin? I'm a full time employee working in the corporate office and I've been with Walser for over five years. The work environment has been deteriorating rapidly over the past two years. Walser's number one core value says "Do the Right Thing". Clearly, they forgot to add the words "for Walser" at the end of that value. Benefits are expensive, the maximum 401k match you can receive is 1.25%, and the one thing that was a really nice perk - carrying over PTO up to a sizable cap - is now being stripped away without warning. The management of the company is a joke. They are now eliminating the CFO position because it's not necessary. This leaves three executives to run the company. It feels like the Titanic and we're heading for the iceberg.

Walser Response

Thank you for reaching out. We appreciate this feedback and the ability to improve upon the benefits and culture at Walser. Walser’s recent shift to an open PTO policy better facilitates an environment for employees to take time to recharge and spend time with family. We’re encouraging employees to plan and schedule time to meet their needs. This change is the result of thoughtful evaluation to better reflect the values of Walser employees. In 2018 company-wide values exercise, an overwhelming majority of employees voiced that ‘family’ was their most important value. This, in accordance with Walser’s recent announcement of paid parental leave and a first-ever automotive partnership with Care.com, is a way to bring that desire to life. Regarding Walser’s benefits, we are proud to say that Walser employee enrollment for healthcare was at an all-time high for 2019 plans. Plans include expanded mental health and behavioral services while costs remained flat from 2018. Meanwhile, the Twin Cities market saw double-digit plan increases across many corporations and mid-size businesses. We recognize the varying needs of our employees and work hard to continue making Walser a great place to work. Again, we appreciate the feedback and the chance to improve. Thank you.

Pros

Good training, base salary, benefits like health insurance, 401k. Good pay plan for high volume dealerships.

Cons

Pay plan is entirely based on volume, and some rooftops are doing in a day what others do in a week. Do your research as to where you go because you can't switch to another dealership until you have tenure. The volume at Toyota is insane. Meanwhile I'm next door at the Buick GMC dealership and our volume is terrible, and I can't switch for months. I'm likely going to have to quit.
