Top executives do not trust/value employees - Business Analyst Watts Water Technologies Employee Review

Pros

Coworkers are generally supportive of one another. Company has high expectations of employees and employees work hard to meet expectations.

Cons

Executive leadership does not trust/value employees. Two layoffs since the beginning of COVID -- the second layoff coming in October as stock price was at an all-time high. CEO completely non-negotiable in October mandate that all employees (unless HR-approved exception in place) must work onsite despite very successful work remote program results to date. While some roles, due to their nature, must be onsite or benefit greatly from being onsite, other roles do not. Benefits of returning to work onsite for many employees unclear just as Massachusetts reports dramatic increase in COVID cases.

Thank you for your review. At Watts, our first priority is to the health and safety of our employees as our most important resource. Unfortunately, like most businesses during the pandemic, we have had to make some very difficult choices to address the economic downturn while preserving the greater good of all the people in the business. In making those choices we have always treated all of our employees with respect and dignity and strive to take into consideration their interests. We have followed this practice in comprehensively addressing employee concerns and needs in (1) asking less than half of our headquarters employees to return to work in the office every other week on a rotating basis, (2) appropriately accommodating continued work from home as individual employee needs require, and (3) providing a safe in-office setting by following all recommended safety protocols.

Pros

The only pros that I can say about Watts Water is that they are growing and continuously acquire new brands. I would say the PTO also isn’t as bad either comparable to other companies.

Cons

There’s no type of support or process documentation in place which is baffling since this company has been around for over a century. You have to jump through hoops and red tape in order to simplify or automate tasks. Also, management always wants control over things which can get frustrating. They don’t allow you to give ideas at all. They’ll state that they “hear you” but they don’t at all. Their systems are not the best whatsoever. Health insurance premiums are awful. They only offer HSA or PPO and the PPO is ridiculously expensive. I also feel like there’s zero culture. I was there for 12+ months and I barely knew management or coworkers on a personal level. Some departments are super siloed so it’s difficult to have conversations with people and get to know one another.
