Pros

This job put me through high school and all of my fours years of college foodservice is not glamorous but the staff and management at my store 278 was always very personable, welcoming, and encouraging. Gotten to know many other associate and feel like this is a great place to work and I'm comfortable and sometimes get excited to work. This job has taught me to have what I consider a good work ethic and hustle. Wawa on the broader corperate side makes associate feel like they can from associate all the way to executive roles, I think this is a company wide theme. I have seen people move up personally. Those who want to succeed here probably will if they are persistent and hardworking. Also those who are there full time seem at least to me to get good benefits its common to have people there for 5+ and 10+ years. Overall, this company one of the good ones. I reccommend working here to friends even if they do not want to make it their career this job is a solid hustle which rewards reliable attendance, positive work ethic, and attitude.

Cons

I have worked at other stores for extended periods of time where management and the store's culture is different. Management does not have a can do attitude and if they do it is just to save face. Some store are friendlier than others. I think you have to get lucky to get a good store but also in the same breath everyone's experience is different. I have also seen complacent seeming managers who have been their for years and while retaining a horrible store culture. Also from an employee perspective wawa has made many new menu options all with different preparation methods like the pizza and salads which can always be something employees are reluctant to make

Pros

(Depending on your manager) you can take the tasks at your own pace and do what feels best, based on what you see. The position I'm in allows headphone use if you're not visible to customers.

Cons

Skeletal shifts are the norm, employee burnout is rampant and unaddressed. Manager turnover is very high at my store, which makes establishing consistency impossible. I get the impression that the conditions for employees vary greatly by store. That said, if you find yourself stuck at a rougher one, your options are to either take the toll to your physical and mental health, or to quit/transfer to a better store. I have personally experienced many legal violations at my place of employment. (keeping the store open and functioning when the workers don't have a bathroom [OSHA fixed that]) (and a few incidents where hours were not properly entered for employees, causing them to work without pay) I have worked here for 4 years without benefits, one year only missing the hour-cutoff for it by an average of 20 minutes. Consistent schedules are very uncommon for employees.
