Pros

Benefits package is really decent. (Although getting stripped slowly) Able to be slightly flexible with work schedule, including when factoring in classes/courses taken, as well as hybrid work where applicable. Tuition waived for taking certain number of credit hours per semester. Personable and respectable staff, department groups, supervisors and heads of departments.

Cons

Not enough vacation/sick leave accrual (for my needs individually) 4hours per pay period for both is not enough. (Essentially get one days' worth of vacation/sick leave for one month of work) Only one day of personal leave per year (separate from vacation). Lack of support with growth opportunities for career development and payment for said opportunities (can only support opportunities for career growth in the current field you occupy). Supervisors tend to be assumptive and reactive rather than understanding and empathetic. Tend to not get both sides of the story when conflict ensues - and when they do the damage has already been dealt.

Pros

Amazing benefits as a student. - Free housing - Food stipend - Money stipend - Very accommodating for student schedules Amazing work culture with great supervisors and managers. Opportunities to make life long friends and get experience with housing management and an authority position.

Cons

No way to get a raise or more hours (Student employee, you get paid a salary). Mostly it is things that are external from the housing office that is the issues. Dealing with helicopter/rude parents. Athlete students basically get away with everything Non-consistent schedule, you could be getting one call a shift or hundreds. Working 24 hour shifts on weekends, and you are on call when you are on shift meaning you have to deal with any issues or emergencies during the day or at night. Other RAs can be unwelcoming and sometimes cliquey.
