Free lunch sometimes. Beneficial trainings. Many employees were fun, kind and easy to get along with, even in the remote locations.
Cons
Being a “salary” employee was a joke. They expect you to joyfully work 43+ hours per week while you are getting paid for 40. Their core value of “doing the right thing” was a shame to so many employees working there who were taken advantage of day in and day out. Management would delegate every single task to 1-2 employees, so all they were left with was a weekly meeting. No trust in management, even as high as the team leaders manager. Management would force you into doing book clubs, which meant reading on your own spare time (and not getting paid), then participating in reviews during the companies time. The outlooks of the company would change based on which book was being read- for example if you weren’t hungry, humble and smart, then you weren’t a Webstaurant Store “Ideal Team Player.” If you read the 5 Dysfunctions of a Team, and you didn’t play every part of that, you weren’t good enough. Values need to be stood behind no matter what book a manager read. There was constantly something else you needed to read, or do, and if you asked for it to be on company time, you would be laughed at. In the 4 years I worked there, I probably worked 3-4 months worth of overtime. It’s a shame they didn’t “do the right thing”. Little to no growth, though they will shove growth down your throat like you actually have a chance, based on when management needs you to take on another one of their tasks. They will talk up growth in every interview, but in remote locations, there is none. You get 5 days of vacation time in your first year. 10 after that. Zero sick time. 10 days for an entire year.
