Pros
Weedmaps has delivered on all of my expectations and more. Before I started working here I was looking for a place where the work is meaningful, I can learn and grow with my colleagues, and I’m rewarded for the hard work that I put in. Weedmaps has checked all of those boxes for me. The company has gone through a few reorgs so I’ve had the opportunity to work on several teams with a variety of people and there has always been a feeling of pride and camaraderie in all of them. People really care about what they’re building here and I feel that passion within my team every day. Managers and PMs do a great job of shielding the team from outside noise allowing us to focus on doing our job to the best of our ability. It can be difficult to move up and be recognized sometimes but if you’re diligent and put in the hard work it will happen.
Cons
As mentioned above, it can be difficult to receive recognition sometimes. It’s exciting to be the leader in a booming and emerging industry but employees will end up feeling left out if they don’t experience growth that’s proportional to the company. I’m hopeful and optimistic that this will improve though. Product management and design has been a revolving door which disrupts the teams. It’s unfortunate because I’ve worked with a lot of great designers and PMs who decided to leave the company.
