Pros

Nothing more than you can get at any other tech company - 401k, healthcare, etc.

Cons

My time at Weedmaps was an excruciating lesson in corporate dysfunction, where deceit, ineptitude, and disregard for both employees and clients reigned supreme. It is my moral obligation to share my ordeal so others can be spared from the torment I endured. The company's promise of bonuses was a façade that masked a deeply ingrained culture of deception. What appeared as an achievable reward systematically became an elusive target, with the goalposts shifting incessantly. This insidious practice crushed morale and bred resentment among the workforce, transforming motivation into disillusionment. Behind this smoke screen of betrayal was a leadership team drowning in inefficiency. Decisions were taken on a whim, devoid of any coherent strategy. Communication breakdowns were the norm, and seeking clarity was an exercise in futility. The leadership's inability to provide direction left us stranded in a sea of confusion, with no lifeline in sight. Unsettlingly, this dysfunctional leadership was accompanied by a disturbing disregard for the law and basic human decency. Discriminatory practices ran rampant, as some were favored while others were relegated to the shadows. Layoffs were were frequent, fostering an environment of fear and resentment. Bearing witness to such injustices was a soul-crushing experience. Adding to the list of grievances, the company's attitude towards clients bordered on negligent and disregard. Transparency was a foreign concept, and genuine care for clients and feedback was virtually non-existent. This lack of consideration led to shattered trust and strained relationships, tarnishing the company's reputation irreparably. Compounding these issues was the plague of inaccurate data reporting. The company's reporting mechanisms were riddled with errors, lies, and distorted our understanding of progress and performance - for both employees and clients. This not only eroded trust among clients, but also undermined our ability to help clients make informed decisions on how to effectively use their advertising dollars. I strongly advise against associating with Weedmaps. The flagrant bonus manipulation, ever-shifting goalposts, woeful leadership, poor treatment of employees, lack of transparency towards clients, subpar technology, and unreliable data reporting culminated in an utterly nightmarish experience. If you value your sanity and professional integrity, steer clear and seek out an environment that respects and values its workforce and clients.

Pros

I have nothing but good things to say. I would have stayed in my role, but my wife got a job that required us to move.

Cons

None. The company is well on track for success.

Pros

I’ve read many of the reviews here from both current and former employees, and while I respect everyone’s individual experience, I can only speak to my own. Weedmaps is filled with incredibly smart, passionate people who genuinely care about the industry and the company’s success. It is absolutely a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment, but much of that comes with the nature of the cannabis industry itself. During my interview process, the teams were very transparent about the startup culture, the pace of change, and the level of adaptability expected. If you thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy solving problems creatively, and are comfortable moving quickly, Weedmaps can be a great place to grow. If you prefer highly structured environments with slower change, it may not be the right fit for you.

Cons

One area where I do agree with some of the feedback shared in other reviews is around company-wide communication and visibility from leadership. I would appreciate more insight into what different teams across Weedmaps are working toward, as well as a clearer understanding of the company’s long-term vision and direction. That said, I also understand that open forums can sometimes become overly focused on negativity, which can make productive communication more difficult. I’d still love to see more consistent opportunities for transparent updates and alignment across the organization.
