Pros

Decent pay and benefits for the cannabis industry. If you're desperate take the offer, but seriously don't stop applying to other jobs.

Cons

A dumpster fire to light your joint. They fire and lay people off at least twice a quarter -- probably because California requires employers to notify the state if they're laying off 33% of the workforce at once. I was my direct report's 7th boss in 3 years. Typical corporate setting - no diversity, equity, or inclusion, white dudes failing up and being hired because they're cool with the CEO. It's pulling teeth trying to get the smallest thing done because you have to appease cannabis people who've only ever worked in cannabis and have no concept of strategy, process, or implementation in leadership positions. The company ignores the very little data it collects and markets Weedmaps to stoners who buy their product from the unregulated market instead of a broader consumer base. The B2B customers are right in thinking that Weedmaps doesn't care about cannabis businesses; Weedmaps raised their prices 4x with no added value to customers and the same terrible product. Needless to say, no money or lip service is paid to social equity businesses. With federal legalization around the corner and Weedmap's biggest competitor being Google Maps, just sell that sh*t for parts while you can. All in all, as an employer, saas, and B2C platform, Weedmaps is a dusty, crusty, rancid bag of bammer weed, slowly decomposing.

Pros

I have nothing but good things to say. I would have stayed in my role, but my wife got a job that required us to move.

Cons

None. The company is well on track for success.

Pros

I’ve read many of the reviews here from both current and former employees, and while I respect everyone’s individual experience, I can only speak to my own. Weedmaps is filled with incredibly smart, passionate people who genuinely care about the industry and the company’s success. It is absolutely a fast-paced and constantly evolving environment, but much of that comes with the nature of the cannabis industry itself. During my interview process, the teams were very transparent about the startup culture, the pace of change, and the level of adaptability expected. If you thrive in dynamic environments, enjoy solving problems creatively, and are comfortable moving quickly, Weedmaps can be a great place to grow. If you prefer highly structured environments with slower change, it may not be the right fit for you.

Cons

One area where I do agree with some of the feedback shared in other reviews is around company-wide communication and visibility from leadership. I would appreciate more insight into what different teams across Weedmaps are working toward, as well as a clearer understanding of the company’s long-term vision and direction. That said, I also understand that open forums can sometimes become overly focused on negativity, which can make productive communication more difficult. I’d still love to see more consistent opportunities for transparent updates and alignment across the organization.
