Pros
Like any other hospital job, 3 12 hour shifts per week. Online scheduling and great benefits. Pleasant and approachable doctors/intensivist and night time NPs.
Cons
Understaffed 92% of the time. Most of the time, a heavy patient load for a step-down ICU because ICU RNs had their hands full with their own heavy patient loads and admissions as well. Back breaking work for too little compensation. Forget about calling the Hardstick(Phlebotomy) team for a critical pt's morning labs, they will never show. There is no retention policy, it's a joke! RNs are spread too thin.
