Pros

For the OTR account: Decent amount of freight. Cool trainers. Decent compensation. They will work with you. Home time is the expect 14 out 2 home. For the Dollar General Account: Cool managers out of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Freight everyday. If you are willing to work 1500 a week is easy as a company driver I made that constantly. Good trucks and a lot of choice if you are picky Lots of services for the drivers. You get to see your dispatcher and Fleet Manager in person a few times a week.

Cons

OTR: Very little downtime pay, sometimes it can be a logistical nightmare and you CAN end up with a short week with little pay due to downtime. Breakdowns are a headache with poor maintenance. Dollar General Account: Trailers are in VERY bad condition. Rollatainers are VERY heavy and the work is almost impossible for one person. You will constantly be pulling into stores and towns where trucks can barely fit. Store managers can be real jerks sometimes.

Pros

Great Experience, ( Exp. May Vary) This is a great job for those who are first setting foot into trucking. The orientation process is, well a process to say the least. I went in looking to do team driving and I got lucky with my partner. If you dont really have anyone waiting for you at home then this job is good. They give you plenty of opportunities to switch accounts and some have ups and downs. Some benefits are okay, and some company sponsored discounts are great. Depending on the dispatcher they can be great or on your butt, Werner does reimburse for schooling which is great but its monthly. Also you do have to train with their trainers and some are either great like mine but ive heard contrary.

Cons

Pay is absolute not adequate. You get locked to 3k a week so your pay is about $900-$1100 depending on the mileage, very rarely did I get anything above and the times I did it was reimbursment for schooling. Saftey is on our butt as they have front facing cameras. These cameras are at a detriment more than for your saftey. Some trainers are garbage, my partner had a trainer who did the bare minimum and she paid the price for it, I have to teach her how to back every now and again.
