Pros

I stayed with the company for over 7 years, so there was obviously some good. Tons overtime was great. At the time I was able to call anyone in the company to answer if question if direct supervisor wasn’t available. If you want more responsibility, they will give it you. Work was 75% out on the property, 25% actual office work (definitely able to get your steps in). Flexibility with the schedule but never set until you a manager. I had a few unseen emergencies that required time off, never felt my job was in jeopardy and was given time that I needed. The people can be amazing. I have met some amazing people that are now considered great friends. You do also get to meet a wide range of people and walks of life. Great values (if they were upheld by everyone). Fun team building activities (river rafting, bowling, dinners)

Cons

You’ll do great if you say yes to everything. It’s less than a $5 difference in pay between assistant managers and training managers. Do well and you may bonus! However it’s been rare in the last 2 years and messes with your taxes. After hour calls/property visits to help tenants. You do get paid for your time, but it was never clearly communicated that you were until 5 years in). If you ask for help or change, just keep asking. Wear your voice out. You might get a “I’m aware and working on it” but nothing is guaranteed. If it is, it might not last long. Theft and break ins. You don’t get much training and guidance. Every DM handles it differently. If you step down as a training manager or store manager, you will be held to the same expectations of your previous role, even if it is not your job description anymore. You take the brunt of the angry tenants. When it is escalated to upper management, they flip the role and give the tenant what they want. If you want to have a family, don’t expect to grow much with the company. They will say they will work on including you in things to help you advance and you get nothing. A lot of “do better” and “if I can then you can” attitudes. It feels like WCSS is turning out to be like Public with the turnover/guidelines since 2020.

Pros

West Coast stands by their missions and values. The company actually cares about your success and development. This is honestly the best company I have ever worked for. It's not just a job it's a career. Bonuses are great if you put in the work for them, you will get it.

Cons

None that I can think at this time.
