Pros
There are some faculty and professors here who genuinely care about the students and their success. The passion they have for the work they do is refreshing as the majority of the work environment is very negative. This could be a good place to work until you're able to find something better. In terms of flexibility: depending on the department you're in, there is some room for flexibility if you're a part time employee. They have revised their policy on yearly reviews so now the reviews are coming in on time. The company is growing.
Cons
At the Orange County campus numerous factors work together to create a negative working environment. The current environment lends itself to name calling, yelling and forms of discrimination. If you're considering a job here, the work environment can be very hostile so a thick skin is necessary. The university runs understaffed so people are being overworked. In their effort to try and go "above and beyond" great employees attempt to take on extra projects to help with the work load. However, those extra jobs become expectations so the good employees suddenly find themselves overworked. There is very little recognition for a job well done so motivate yourself in other ways that way you don't feel burned out. The upper management here can be hateful and disrespectful toward each other and this mentality trickles down all the way through the ranks at West Coast. Prideful leadership stands in the way of this promising company and its employees. Bottom line: I always treat management with respect but I don't have respect for them as leaders. I would gently encourage you to find something different in terms of employment. West Coast will not be a place to grow professionally or monetarily. If you are a hard worker with a high regard for integrity you deserve better than what West Coast can offer you. If you need a job to hold you over until your next opportunity--then maybe this place will work just fine.
