Thanks for your feedback. Our high agency standards combined with many of our employees’ high individual standards makes work-life balance critical. We certainly appreciate the importance of a clear and stated work-life balance as one of the cornerstones of a productive workforce. It is certainly true that as a non-profit the majority of our funding comes from grants and projects, which WestEd seeks out and applies for. There is a trade-off in the areas in which we work between having a large variety of work options and projects available, and having a steady stream of one kind of work only. By choosing to diversify, we create a need for ongoing funding. This is the nature of non-profits, research agencies and education providers in many organizations across the United States, and WestEd is no different in that respect.
