Pros
The animal hospital I managed had an incredible team of compassionate, dedicated people who truly care about one another, the patients, and the clients. During my time there, I had the opportunity to help build a strong, collaborative culture rooted in trust, open communication, and emotional safety. The doctors and staff are deeply committed, and when leadership is aligned, the hospital has the potential to be a really special place to work. There is a genuine desire at the hospital level to support growth, teamwork, and quality medicine, and the relationships built there were meaningful and rewarding.
Cons
As part of a larger corporate group, decision-making can feel disconnected from the day-to-day realities of the hospital. At times, operational and experience-based metrics appeared to outweigh relational leadership, culture, and institutional knowledge. This can be challenging for leaders who prioritize people development, internal growth, and long-term team stability. There can also be a lack of clarity around how leadership transitions and hiring decisions are handled, which may create uncertainty for staff who value continuity and trust.
