Pros

* A solid set of very smart, very motivated people. * A focus on getting things done while maintaining a life outside of work. * The users love the product which is motivating. * Tons of opportunity to learn new tech and grow/have a real impact. * Top level leadership has been very approach, genuine, and relatable.

Cons

Joining a new company can always feel like a roll of the dice. So far there hasn't been any landmines I've ran into. Whatnot moves fast but the work is fun and the people are motivated. This is my first startup so I imagine it can be much worse at other companies who are still running to find their place in the market. The onboarding process was honestly the best I've experienced in the industry and overall docs/code quality/CI process is really good. I kinda assumed a startup would always be really rough because it's hyper focused on growth but Whatnot seems to understand that quality is important to keeping users happy and still move fast. It still is a startup. So if you really don't like ambiguity or creating something entirely new, this probably isn't the best place for you. But that's probably the case with every startup.

Pros

Strong culture, leadership really encourages feedback and listens/acts. I feel very supported by my manager and loyal to the company and the mission

Cons

Whatnot is all-consuming sometimes, but none of the work feels like a waste of time like at other companies

Pros

Good healthcare and good benefits.

Cons

Increasingly corporate culture Benefits slowly being rolled back every year Must use PTO for any holidays you want off as Ops agent/specialist Utter lack of leadership. Revolving door of managers because they refuse to promote internally for years Repetitive, dull work Toxic work culture. Very petty people in management who don’t accept anything but yes men Virtually no training established and hardly any SOPs written. What little there are of both are very poorly executed (aka people brand new to the work doing the training) No upward mobility whatsoever Arbitrary pay scales and performance reviews not necessarily aligned with performance or tenure. Disclaimer: experience entirely dependent on what team you’re on. Avoid T&R like the plague.
