* Location in Des Plaines is right off 294 and convenient to lots of Northwest Suburbs * The business is interesting if you are involved in anything but day to day clerk work * Company has been fairly stable throughout the recession * Large client base
Cons
* Many long term employees in positions they are not qualified for; promotions came because of connections or skill at tasks that didn't really translate into leadership positions * New people are not trusted and put through the ringer. If you don't believe this, ask someone who was there under 3 years and didn't stay - this population is growing significantly. They are dropping like flies for a reason * Again, many newer people are not staying. I was lured in saying several people had been hired in my area recently and they all left within my first year. Again, dropping like flies * Very little career development or career path; no reimbursement for the pursuit of these things. * Older employees are allowed to be inappropriate, do as they please and get away with bullying in and out of work. If you think bringing it up to your supervisor is constructive or professional you will be told the problem is you * No bonus plan offered for employees under Manager level * Favortism runs high, usually with the longer term employees. * Certain members of leadership (classified as Supervisor and above at Wheels) gossip and discuss their employees inappropriately. There are no boundaries and no accountabilities. * Certain people are allowed to do & say whatever they want with no consequences. Appropriate, legal or not. * If someone does not want to do their work and you are their Supervisor, god help you. Seriously. * Many groups have extremely low morale and very high turnover. * Company is still very silo'd and stuck in the boys network * Backstabbing is a common daily occurrence, even within your group/Supervisor. No one will have your back and you will be the first to be thrown under the bus. Repeatedly. Over. And. Over. * Constant strain with the business and back office operations and IT * Antiquated IT processes and systems * Clients are allowed to verbally abuse Wheels employees. * Benefits are not good or competitive locally. HMO with few doctors in network or High Deductible PPO. With lower than market pay, this is not a perk and you will not get big raises once you are hired. Vision insurance? Walmart, Sears etc... most real doctors out of network. Dental? Same. Short Term Disability? None in the first year. Vacation? None in the first year!
