Pros
Whisker moves at an exciting, fast-paced rhythm that makes every day engaging. The environment is friendly, supportive, diverse and filled with genuinely great people. This is from the teams you collaborate with daily to those that support the organization to keep everything running smoothly. The mission is meaningful, and it’s energizing to work on products that make life better for pets and their owners. There is tremendous opportunity to create, learn, and be heard. Whisker is a hyper-growth company, and the ability to think ahead while maintaining its momentum creates a unique atmosphere that’s hard to find elsewhere. I truly appreciate the space I’m given to develop my skills, the trust placed in me, and the comfort of being able to show up as myself every day.
Cons
With hyper-growth comes natural challenges. Some functions are newer to Whisker, which means there’s ongoing work to integrate them effectively into the broader organization. As these teams mature, processes are still evolving. This is common in companies experiencing rapid change, but at Whisker it can feel amplified by the steep growth curve. The encouraging part is that management is aware of this, actively involves teams in addressing it, and the people brought in have both the mindset and skillset to tackle these challenges. Additionally, some departments are more established than others. HR, for example, is a mature and well-oiled function with strong leadership, while other teams are still in earlier stages of development. Although listed as a con, this isn’t unusual compared to other organizations. In reality, it’s an opportunity for candidates who are excited to build, contribute, and “grab the bull by the horns.” For those who prefer rigid structure on day one, this environment may not be the best fit depending on the function. For me personally, this was a driving force in choosing Whisker. I stepped into a role that had never been solely owned before, and it's been incredibly fulfilling.
