Pros

Management is willing to try innovative ideas, regardless of who they come from. This is great because it gives people a voice and enables them to have a measurable impact on the company overall. You will have many opportunities to improve your skills, including obtaining certifications and attending events/conferences. Whisker is growing, and you have lots of opportunities to help shape the future of the company. The atmosphere is overwhelmingly positive. I enjoy working with my coworkers and never have any issues with them. We all work together to achieve the common goal of being the best we can be. You work alongside all members of leadership, which is not typical at a lot of companies. Many of which you never see members of upper management.

Cons

Reviews only happen once per year. This results in employees having a low frequency of receiving feedback. However, I have seen instances where people receive promotions outside of review time, and successes are always celebrated.

Pros

What really sets the company apart is the human-first environment. From a career standpoint, there is tremendous opportunity for growth, supported by leaders who are always willing to jump in, answer questions, and mentor you through challenges. The work-from-home setup and generous vacation policy give you fantastic day-to-day flexibility and time to recharge, while company outings keep team bonds strong. Plus, HR genuinely cares about employee well-being—they're always ready to sit down and listen to feedback, and the company offers an exceptionally fair, supportive FMLA policy compared to standard industry practices. It’s an environment where you feel both supported professionally and cared for personally

Cons

Fast-Paced Transitions: The industry moves quickly, meaning staff and positions rotate fairly frequently. This fast pace requires adaptability, as team structures and roles can shift fairly often (Although it is more of a Pro due to the growth opportunities).

Pros

The product and the product problems the company is trying to solve/fix are genuinely interesting, and the peer-level engineering team is full of fantastic, talented people. Pets in the office is also a nice perk.

Cons

Buzzword Innovation: The company wants to lean into software and the AI wave but has no idea what that actually means. Engineering leadership has mistaken using AI chatbots for actual technical innovation and thinks that constitutes building "AI-first products." Detached & Toxic Leadership: Direct management doesn't understand what their technical teams actually do. Leadership & software architecture is also highly toxic, frequently talking down to engineers and dismissing their work. Bloated Management Ratio: Following massive layoffs at the beginning of this year and the frequent high turnover, the engineering team has been reduced to a skeleton crew. Instead of backfilling individual contributors, the company feels it's better off hiring executives, leaving a completely bloated manager-to-IC ratio. Carrot-Dangling & Retaliation: Career growth and compensation are a game of constant carrot-dangling. Leadership claims they want feedback, but honest feedback is met with retaliation or issues being swept under the rug.
