Pros

Great company to work for if you intend to be a career employee with WT, as well as a great retirement package and health insurance. Offices are ran semi-independently of corporate, therefore your VP can really get to know you and compensate/promote you if you are a good employee. The company is employee owned so job completion and end of year bonuses are very good. Your salary, bonuses, Stock Appreciation Rights increase significantly with years of service. Upper management and new C.E.O. seem to be taking the company in the right direction and are addressing some pay discrepancies (as compared to other similar companies) by significantly increasing pay for people working out-of-town.

Cons

You really have to be looking at the long term when working for WT. If you intend to come work here for a couple of years and move on, it really is not worth your while since most perks don't kick-in until about the 5th year (that's when you get fully vested in the pension plan) and Stock Appreciation Rights don't mature until after 15 years of when they get awarded. If you are looking to make money, be ready to travel and put in some serious hours on the job site. Management seems to favor/promote people faster that travel out-of-town for jobs, so if you're not willing to spend the majority of your working career from job site to job site then this company (and this industry for that matter) is not for you. Company expects you to pay for out-of-pocket expenses for items such as travel, moving costs, job site materials, etc. (which can get into thousands of dollars relatively quickly) and then submit a voucher that takes weeks or months to get reimbursed.

Pros

Had an opportunity to experience and see many aspects of pre-construction process and the development of ongoing projects. Was treated with respect, they were very understanding that I was just an intern regarding the knowledge I was expected to have. Was corrected when I made a mistake in a way that made me feel like I could get it right next time.

Cons

Early morning, some long days. Just the nature of construction.

Pros

The company has great leadership scattered between the different offices. The pay can be really good if you are a top performer, which just is through effort and giving your all to the job. It's a company that I was able to believe and follow the leadership and have lasting mentorships spanning a decade even after leaving. It is a company that I saw adapt and change over my time there. The changes were always an effort to make it better for the employee while maintaining a profitable business. I saw them listen to complaints and desires of employees and bring changes into action. It is a large company, so things take time, but I first hand saw changes. Also, if you talk about your long term life goals, have patience, are a good employee, they will help you reach your goals. Health care benefits are great too.

Cons

Construction can be a tiring industry. Long hours, tough days sometimes filled with emotions from trying to get the project moving forward. But my leadership was always understanding of this. They recognize and reward directly and indirectly the effort and work you put in. The golden handcuffs of the stocks is a downside. Living in expensive areas can be tough
