Pros

P Support peeps banded together, and I have many people I used to work with who were more than just coworkers, people I still talk to and refer to as a friend.

Cons

This is a tough place to work, but not because of job duties or assigned tasks. It's tough because of the company structure, lack of leadership, and lack of communication. It's not that the LH doesn't know what the RH is doing, it's that it doesn't even know it's there. This place treats each department as if it were it's own miniature company. So often times, you're forced to make decisions which benefit your dept VP vs the company itself. You'd think that with the amount of layering between the leadership here, someone would be paying attention to why so many people leave, and why the turnover rate is so high, but it's just not the case. My team had 6 people in it - 3 left in 6 months. The group had 13 or so , 11 have left in 7 years. This is because in product support you're treated like an expendable part which will eventually wear out and need to be replaced. You're treated like they almost have your robot replacement complete, and that they'll tell you whatever you need to hear in the meantime just to keep you happy until the robot is dialed-in. It's a small company with big company problems, so there's no room for growth unless you're a yes-man favorite. For some reason management thinks that airframe experience is what makes good engine troubleshooters, as if zipping antennas, changing landing gear, swapping tires, cleaning lavs, removing interiors, and playing with avionics has something to do with troubleshooting the guts of a jet engine. At WI, if you're good at your job, you'll be pigeon-holed. Let me sum up the company culture here: my wife was in the hospital for 2 weeks because she almost died before giving birth to our son, who himself spent 2 weeks in the NICU after he was born. I used up all 152 hours of personal time that I had earned for the year. A few months later, I gave my 2 week notice after finding a better company to work for. So what does this place do? They stole the last 40 hours I worked, stating that I had used more personal time than I had earned, as it's now pro-rated for the year. So I worked the last week for free. That's just the kind of place this is; always inventing new ways to make more money for the top, it doesn't care if it unethical or used car salesman tactics. This place has no heart and no soul. Does this sound like a cool place to work? This is just the tip of the iceberg...
