Pros

Supportive co workers who understand the stressor of the job and are willing to help you navigate through it. Remote working and flexible schedule.

Cons

Over worked is an understatement. If you work in the claims department, you will have at least 200 claims to work on in addition to the 70 plus files you'll get every quarter for our overseas clients. Very high attorney turn over. At least 6 in the last 7 months. The pay is horrible compared to other large firms that WEMED is compared to. No clear communication, directive, or training from management. You'll have to teach yourself and beg other associates to help because management won't. The head of the department and Partners are so far removed from the work that all the assignments they give associates are "priorities." They don't communicate so they have no idea how many files each associate has for each program.

Pros

Excellent mentorship and approachable partners who genuinely invest in developing junior attorneys. Associates receive meaningful responsibility early, including depositions, court appearances, client interaction, and substantive motion practice. The office culture is collaborative, and there are ample opportunities for professional development and hands-on litigation experience. Hybrid work flexibility is also a plus.

Cons

Litigation can be fast-paced, and balancing multiple cases and competing deadlines requires strong organization and responsiveness. Workload can fluctuate depending on your docket and trial schedule, so there are periods when the hours are heavier.

Pros

Great benefits, pay is okay. Partners are reasonable and nice.

Cons

Firm is misogynistic. They either drove someone to quit/fired really good talent and one of the only attorneys that was sweet to the staff after they took the side of male colleague in their interpersonal issue. Watched this person get bullied and firm did nothing. A lot of exclusive groups and mean girl behavior in chicago office it is really a shame
