HR and immigration folks need to be transparent. Immigration team submitted my visa petition for premium processing, but my visa didn't get approved on time. When I asked immigration for an explanation, they just cited "delays" and were vague in their responses. I asked for documentation on when the premium processing was sent and they did not respond nor provide anything.
My 240-day extension for my visa ended, so I was not working for some time. I was a few days away from getting approved. HR then terminates me out of nowhere, saying that I am not authorized to work. Even my manager did not know that I was being terminated. I spoke with immigration who said that I had already been taken off payroll and I would be reinstated once the visa was approved. Even the immigration team said that the termination should not have happened. HR just pulled the trigger and it has impacted me greatly.
