Pros

Low expectations, low accountability, no pressure, no deadlines, come in collect a paycheck, never get fired. Decent vacation/sick day accrual.

Cons

Their "non-profit" label is an excuse to not pay market value salaries, or anywhere close. I say "excuse" because the executives make a bundle, but the other ~1400 employees make sub-market. That attracts the unambitious - those that are otherwise unemployable, those that lack experience or skills, and those that want to come in to a low-stress environment, do the minimum required, and earn an easy paycheck. This leads to high churn, and an inability to attract and retain qualified talent, while retaining only the lazy squatters. The execs are there to look after themselves and protect their cushy jobs and high salaries, at the expense of the powerless middle management. Execs make rash autonomous decisions, then blame the underlings when (surprise!) they don't work out. There's no career development, no structure, no mentoring, no training, no forecasting or departmental goals...no future!

Pros

Large employer flexibility, I worked with a great team and the work was rewarding. The clients were cared for well and I was happy to help their staff with issues and concerns

Cons

Challenging work. Many employees from different cultures made helping them assimilate and work together a challenge. This is 24/7 care, so it was tough sometimes.
