Pros

Despite the challenges I faced at my previous employer, there were some positives to acknowledge. The salary was competitive, providing financial stability, and the healthcare benefits were comprehensive, ensuring employee well-being. Additionally, team members were generally supportive and collaborative, creating a positive working environment.

Cons

I recently concluded my tenure with my previous employer, and I feel compelled to share my experience with the hopes that it might shed some light on the realities of working at this organization. During the interview process, the company painted an appealing picture, emphasizing a workplace free from micromanagement and a strong commitment to KPI-focused evaluations. However, the actual working conditions, the management team, and the senior agents painted a starkly different reality. One of the most glaring issues was the promise of no micromanagement. During the interview, the company assured me that they valued autonomy and trusted their employees to manage their tasks independently. Regrettably, this promise was far from the truth. Once I settled into my role, I quickly realized that the micromanagement was rampant. Managers consistently hovered over their teams, frequently checking on every task, and even questioning minor decisions. This not only hindered productivity but also created a stifling work environment where employees felt they had limited room to exercise their own judgment. The KPI-oriented evaluations were another point of contention. While KPIs can be valuable for tracking performance and setting goals, they should not be the sole focus of performance evaluations. In my previous job, the KPIs took precedence over everything else, often overshadowing the qualitative aspects of our work. This approach led to a high-stress environment where employees were solely concerned with meeting these metrics, sometimes at the expense of providing excellent customer service or achieving long-term success. Furthermore, the quality of management and senior agents was a significant concern. Many of the managers and senior agents were clearly inexperienced and lacked the necessary skills for effective leadership and mentorship. It was frustrating to witness the management team making questionable decisions and failing to provide the guidance and support that employees needed. This lack of competent leadership had a direct impact on our ability to excel in our roles and undermined the work environment's overall quality. In summary, my experience with my previous employer was disheartening and disappointing due to the stark contrast between the promises made during the interview process and the actual working conditions. The prevalent micromanagement, the singular focus on KPIs, and the presence of inexperienced managers and senior agents made it challenging to thrive in the workplace. I hope this review serves as a valuable resource for prospective employees considering joining this organization, so they can make an informed decision about their career choices.

Pros

Remote work and flexibility Size of company is great - not too big, not too small Great coworkers (aside from the leadership)

Cons

- Horrible psychological work environment. The senior leaders in my department were absolutely terrifying and incredibly nitpicky, rather than encouraging and supportive to their people. - Career growth is a joke at Workiva, and leaders make it clear by their actions (and at times, words) that it's not a priority. I remember sitting on a department call where my VP said, "Growth is not getting a promotion at Workiva," and the context in which she said it made it feel cold, patronizing, and disheartening. Departmental calls were often uncomfortable and totally deflating. - Extremely unrealistic and very subjective standards - No manager accountability - People constantly live in fear, but the work flexibility and "great place to work" facade keep employees stuck in a toxic loop - When they get the slightest whiff of unhappiness, they push you out. I've seen it time and time again (which then creates a toxic fear culture) - Constant gaslighting
