What they actually punish is disruption. I learned that the hard way. The moment you question bad leadership, expose broken systems, challenge politics, refuse to stay silent, you become a threat. By that means, your job will become at risk. Colleagues know that the system is dysfunctional and HRs are useless, so many of them take the burnout leaves. Then they will just disappear. It tells a lot- the culture is abusive across all the levels.
