Pros

Opportunities for advancement, diverse work environment, casual and laid-back work environment, comparable pay, employees are listened to and often have a direct effect on new approaches used within the company

Cons

heavily task oriented, level of physical labor is high (moving furniture, heavy items), inventory/allocation system antiquated and needs improvement to add in store productivity

Pros

My location had a great staff, flexible work hours, and fun environment (until the investment company bought out the World Market company).

Cons

After the investment company bought out the World Market company everything changed. It steadily declined in all the ways that mattered... They just didn't understand how retail works. They would say the staff needed to be more present and make more sales, but then they would cut hours so much that there were not enough employees to do even the minimum required. Often there would be literally only 2 people working - one on the cash register and one to do literally everything else. Then corporate would get upset that customer satisfaction and sales went down. They just don't get how they were related. Pay was laughable, and after all the hours were cut it would be hard to get time off. Employee morale tanked and almost everyone I knew over the years I worked there has since quit. Now it is basically kids fresh out of high school that work and only stay for maybe a year.
