During my time as a PhD candidate, I faced a challenging situation in my first lab as the working environment was not conducive to my success. I sought help from the department head, who ensured that my monthly stipend (typically provided by the PI of the affiliated lab) remained unaffected during my transition to a new research lab. As an international student, this support was incredibly significant and made a tremendous difference in my academic journey.
