Pros
XPO is the type of place where talented and motivated people thrive. You're allowed to find opportunities for success and then pursue those opportunities. Most leaders enable their teams to be successful and there is not much micro-management. If you're an overachiever, you can learn an enormous amount and you'll be incredibly successful at XPO! The company sets clear goals and concisely communicates the path to achieve those goals. However, these goals are created through a bottom-up understanding of where the biggest opportunities lie. The majority of senior management really does listen! One of the things I find really unique about XPO is the humility of senior and executive management. It's incredibly rare to cross paths with someone who has a big ego or acts selfishly. The humble attitude is truly refreshing and promotes a great company culture. I eat/sleep/breathe technology, and I love that XPO is investing so heavily into established and emerging tech while simultaneously being so pragmatic about how we apply it. It's not "one size fits all" and XPO doesn't just use tech buzzwords to stay relevant, it's part of the company DNA and drives our success. Personally, I love coming in to work every day. I love the projects my team is working on and I love the people I get to work with! People are very driven, incredibly talented, and support each other to make everyone even better.
Cons
XPO grew incredibly quickly and largely through acquisitions. This means there are a variety of cultures throughout XPO. Some teams and business units move incredibly quickly while some embrace a legacy culture that doesn't easily align with the multibillion-dollar startup culture. This is fairly expected given how quickly the company has grown and is definitely improving as time goes on. If you're looking into an opportunity with XPO, I recommend asking questions to determine what the culture is like in a particular office or on a specific team. If you're someone who is looking for a job to coast by for a few years, XPO is probably not for you! At XPO, you get back what you put in. If you work hard and deliver results, you'll be rewarded for your efforts. But if you slack off and don't put in an effort, you'll likely contrast with the people around you.
