Pros
* treats employees well with respect * pantry is always stocked up with good food, snacks, monthly team lunch, parties * friendly peers * flat organization structure * work from home option is cool * nice macky * spends a lot on employee benefits * Highly respect CEO for that he’s made Xactly what it is today * CXO team’s visit during their recent visit is a highly welcoming and re-assuring one. Was transparent & patient enough in communicating with foot soldiers (employees) on the floor. I would request for more such visits every year. * management corrected their previous mistake by appointing a tech savvy and capable person at the helm of affairs in India office. A right thing in this direction.
Cons
* this happens in some teams only: * no concern for code quality and contributions * manager always overrides the expectations of quality engineering, developers, peer managers and senior management * quality engineering & developers are always stressed out due to bad team management * absolute no regard for making the product better. ironically technical recommendations falls on deaf ears every time. “Hook or Crook, short-circuit technicals to make up for the delivery, but still don’t deliver" * scrum here is not agile, fragile * the mangers gives you options, but chooses on your behalf * managers tells its quality engineering teams not to log any bugs openly, tells developers not to write unit tests whenever there is risk of missing a release * day or night, micro-management rocks! I call it nano-management * no room for reward and recognition in team. (Not exactly asking for money & awards, even a thank you note will do for out of the line effort) * 365 days a year, every release is a same story and same outcome. Strech over weekdays, weekends and take peanuts as salary proportional to the effort spent with no incentives * consistently & glaringly miss deadlines due to bad planning, strategy, estimation, lack of (communication, inter-personal, mentorship/training, team-building, learning from past mistakes etc... skills), the team-mates always face the music for it from the management and during appraisals * several employees abuse the remote work option by taking up freelance & secondary tech jobs apart from working with Xactly * long time employees dominate the floor. Talks sweet in front of you, but bad-mouths about you in the back, to your manager, in private messages * don’t go into bad books with long time employees here in the company, coz they are all a cartel. They are all thick & thin family friends. They gossip with each other literally about everyone & everything in the company. * long time employees knows salary of most of the other employees. It is an absolute disgrace that this is happening (Avoid all sorts of $ conversations with them)
