Pros

Engineers are really helpful and awesome. Haven't met one that wasn't super nice and willing to take time out of their day to help you out. Nice friendly culture. Work Life balance is good. Plenty of people working odd hours, picking up kids, start/finish when it suits you. Not too much pressure to deliver, never had a need to work late at night. Remote working is generally the norm since Covid with one office day a week.

Cons

The management, HR side, etc seem like they don't fit in much with the rest of Xero's culture, probably due to coming from corporate or contracting firm style backgrounds. Middle management is bloated and lots of focus on BS things. They go on about Xero values all the time but don't seem to live by them. Not too bad if you keep your head down and avoid dealing with that side too much.

Pros

Xero has a great product and a lot of very passionate employees who work very hard for their customers.

Cons

The executive leadership at Xero is creating a toxic, backstabbing culture that promotes yes-men at the expense of honest dialogue. It's impossible to make decisions at the company, and multiple rounds of layoffs are leaving all employees shell shocked and fearful. Marketing teams are under-resourced while more demands are constantly being placed on teams to do more. When constraints are communicated, employees are blamed for them, rather that listened to. Multiple colleagues have said the same thing. Additionally, management has instituted a 'rank and yank' policy where everyone is graded on a forced curve, where the bottom quarter are immediately put on a PIP.
