Pros
- Flexible work culture as long as the job gets done - You can be as busy as you want it to be or you can be as lax as you want it to be. As long as you get the job done - Company is striving to be better in the future, with new a CEO that brings new energy and hope - There is a lot of opportunity to gain influence due to a cons listed below - Great inclusive culture in the wider Xero group - The company builds a culture around 'wellbeing' and it's a big theme that the company tries to always keep intact - Most people work remotely and there is no sign for the company to ask anybody to come back at all (for engineers at least)
Cons
- There is a lack of open feedback culture. Heavy tendency towards ruinous empathy towards reports - Sometimes, managers feel like they have to protect their reports because it would look bad on them somehow if they didn't perform well - Inefficient working culture. Tends to overly hire people in areas that the company want to grow. Leading to 'too many chefs in the kitchen'. These people aren't extremely experienced either so it led to many arguments around small things - Promotion is not as unbiased as it might have seemed in some teams - Some senior engineers aren't really 'seniors' if they were to go to other companies - Pay is just decent
