Pros

1. Generous benefits package 2. Generous time off 3. Diversity is embraced (offer domestic partner benefits) 4. Allows employees to telecommute/work virtual

Cons

1. Constant reorganizations and involuntary reductions in force leave employees uncertain and foster low employee morale. In my tenure with Xerox, I went through reorganizations every year, several IRIFs, and changed managers so many times, I couldn't keep track. This activity provides a clear view that management has no idea of what they are doing. 2. Promotional opportunities are few and far between. Employees are expected to take on additional work and responsibilities but work is considered a "lateral" move instead of a promotion. No promotional opportunities if you are not "in" with management - the same incompetent people are promoted into higher positions, while the outstanding performers are overlooked on a regular basis. 3. Pay is significantly lower than market and employee benefits have recently been cut. Seems strange considering that Xerox always has the money to aquire companies (ACS being the latest). Seems to be focused more on growth than on the employees who actually perform the work. 4. Loss of top talent due to constant reorganizations, IRIFs, low salaries, cut in benefits, and acquisition of companies where employees are "transferred" and no longer considered Xerox employees. 5. No performance feedback at all - I hadn't had a performance appraisal in over 3 years. 6. No employee satisfaction surveys - Xerox used to conduct an employee satisfaction survey annually and this initiative has since gone by the wayside. 7. No salary increases for regular employees for 3 years now - of course, those employees within the executive level still continue to see annual increases. 8. No work/life balance - most employees are expected to work much more than a 40-hour work week (often nights and weekends). 9. Subcontractors are preferred over regular employees. If an IRIF is planned, expect regular employees to be laid off before subcontractors (since they don't have to give subcontractors benefits). This is slap in the face to employees who have performed well for the sake of Xerox.

Pros

Big company with solid benefits

Cons

Pay is not on par with competition and raises are very hard to get. If you don't get what you are looking for when hired you will likely never get it.
