      Pros

      Good base pay, benefits, work/life balance, advancement, helpful and knowledgeable collogues.

      Cons

      If you are used to a fast paced work environment (or for me... working from one panic situation to another), you will find this is the complete opposite here at Y-12. While for me, it was a MUCH welcomed change from my previous job, other people had trouble adapting to this slower pace. There a supreme emphasis on security here. Get used to keeping track on where your phone and personal electronics are on your person as you CANNOT have them in many places within the complex.

      Good work schedule 4 days on 3 days off, big safety culture. Seems to emphasize on retention. Lots of cool projects and opportunities to learn.

      Cons

      Projects a bit slow sometimes, ongoing major construction.

      - Four 10-hour workdays weekly, plus time balancing - Very strong job security - Work-life balance is very good - Work culture is good, the people are very down-to-earth and relaxed - The work supports an important, meaningful mission

      Cons

      - DoE work pacing is very slow at times - Opaque promotion system that seemingly rewards less experienced new hires much more than long-term employees, with respect to time in grade
