Good benefits (thank you unions) and Yale is a progressive and well-resourced institution so there's lots to take advantage of (e.g. libraries/museums, interesting seminars around campus, shuttle service around New Haven). As a lab assistant, your experience will be shaped by your PI and other members of your lab. I was fortunate to have a nice manager who fostered a nice working environment and was understanding and encouraging about PTO.
