Pros
The students are some of the smartest and most talented that I have ever met. The staff are like family. We know each other well and we support each other and help each other. It's a pleasure to come to work. The job is exactly what you would expect - you teach, you hold office hours, you grade papers, etc.
Cons
New Haven isn't really a city in which you can raise a family. Most staff and faculty live in other towns and drive in. The homelessness rate is high, and there are a lot of muggings and petty crime incidents. The part-time contract means that you may not have guaranteed employment for more than a few months at a time, and often the job falls through at the last minute due to low student enrollment or the department giving the course to permanent faculty or graduate students.
