Pros

The talented and dedicated employees at Year Up exemplify the organization's core values through their exceptional work.

Cons

I unfortunately had a very disappointing experience working at this company. The CEO seems to only surround herself with "yes people" who are unwilling to provide honest feedback or push back when poor decisions are being made. The executive team, including the CEO, do not appear to uphold the organization's core values. The CEO regularly hosts what are described as "optional" staff meetings, but makes it mandatory for all employees to turn on their cameras, effectively forcing participation. It also seems that the executive team is instructed to pressure employees to attend these meetings, just so the CEO can continue hearing herself talk without any real dialogue or feedback. This lack of transparency and authoritarian culture is extremely concerning. I would caution anyone considering employment here, as it seems the leadership is more interested in surrounding themselves with compliant subordinates rather than fostering a collaborative, values-driven environment. Further, the organization appears to prioritize the ego of its CEO over the wellbeing and professional growth of its employees.

Pros

- Competitive compensation - Excellent organizational leadership, passion, and culture - Programs really make a difference in the students' lives

Cons

Any new site comes with some growing pains and so we are still figuring some things out as we go. Could use a little more direction or "best practices" from other sites or leadership. But again, these things come with any new sites!
