Pros

They gave me a chance. As a former professional of 10 years, I had experience but it was not in Sales. It was in teaching. Giving me a chance and training me into a Sales role was huge and actually helped me leverage my experience into a different, more lucrative position. The training program was excellent and is perfect for someone who is transitioning into a career in Sales.

Cons

Where to begin. Inherently flawed product. I can’t tell you how many situations I was placed in where the business owner on the other end said our product was flawed and you are working for a company that extorts small business owners. Sometimes they were just being irrational but more times than not I was inclined to agree with them. Mindless hours of calling and reading from a script. There were so many days when I wanted to walk out midway through the day and tell management that I quit. I guess my greatest disappointment was Yelp misrepresenting how much money you can actually make here. Rarely did I go a month when I didn’t make money for the company, but there policy that you needed to make 12K before making any sort of commission was unfair. Most Reps I know never really made much in commission or when they did they would chargebacks from businesses who were cancelling their ad program because it didn’t work for them.

Pros

Supportive management-My manager is amazing and truly cares about my personal and professional growth. Career development- I love the position I am in, but have been encouraged for others. Yelp offers great opportunities to advance, explore new roles and develop new skills if that's the direction you want. Work life balance-10/10. As a mom of 3, I feel empowered to balance my family responsibilities and career and Yelp does just that. Inclusivity and culture- Yelp’s commitment to belonging and inclusivity is real, I’ve always felt valued here. I love my team so much. Flexibility- Movement between roles and growth are genuinely supported. Working from home also helps a lot with flexibility. Employee recognition-Hard work is acknowledged and celebrated daily.

Cons

Large company changes- Like any sizable company, occasional shifts or leadership changes mean adapting to new processes. Remote work challenges- Not unique to Yelp, but staying connected with coworkers virtually can take extra effort. Compensation-Base is very low compared to a lot of other tech companies, but again you put the work in and it all evens out.
