We appreciate you taking the time to leave us your feedback. These scenarios you have described are not representative of our culture here at Yelp, and we are truly sorry that your experience on our team was anything less than what you had hoped for. We are certainly concerned to hear that you felt that lying was necessary to get ahead at Yelp. Our goal is to help business owners make a positive change in their business with the help of Yelp advertising, and our Account Executives are the driving force behind the success of our product. Cold-calling is tough at any company, Yelp included, however, here we're different is in our training and curriculum, as well as the ongoing coaching and development we provide. Most folks find that when they stick to what they learn during their training, they can successfully connect with business owners to share the value and power of Yelp Advertising. In addition, all of our managers go through two different programs before being selected to become people leaders. The Manager Development Program (MDP) is a classroom-based curriculum designed to teach the fundamentals of the role. Candidates who successfully pass MDP then need to earn a spot in our Coaching Development Program (CDP), a 3 month "on-the-job" training whereby we start to put classroom principles taught in MDP into practice. This is not a management job, but a way for us to see whether candidates can coach and operate according to our standards. With this said, our leaders are also very hands-on when it comes to supporting their teams. This sometimes includes things like dropping in on calls to assist with closing deals or managers having team check-ins multiple times per day to ensure everyone is on-track to achieve their goals. For some, this may feel like micromanagement, and we know this approach is not for everyone, but we've created a successful and supportive environment through this strategy. We appreciate your feedback, we will pass this up to our leadership team so we can keep making improvements and making Yelp a great place to work for all.

Pros

Supportive management-My manager is amazing and truly cares about my personal and professional growth. Career development- I love the position I am in, but have been encouraged for others. Yelp offers great opportunities to advance, explore new roles and develop new skills if that's the direction you want. Work life balance-10/10. As a mom of 3, I feel empowered to balance my family responsibilities and career and Yelp does just that. Inclusivity and culture- Yelp’s commitment to belonging and inclusivity is real, I’ve always felt valued here. I love my team so much. Flexibility- Movement between roles and growth are genuinely supported. Working from home also helps a lot with flexibility. Employee recognition-Hard work is acknowledged and celebrated daily.

Cons

Large company changes- Like any sizable company, occasional shifts or leadership changes mean adapting to new processes. Remote work challenges- Not unique to Yelp, but staying connected with coworkers virtually can take extra effort. Compensation-Base is very low compared to a lot of other tech companies, but again you put the work in and it all evens out.
