Pros

I believed in the Yelp Ads platform and products prior to onboarding with the company, so selling a product you believe it was a Pro. . . BUT THAT IS AN ABSOLUTE CON JOB. The free swag was cool, but who can relax and get a massage when you can't pay your bills?

Cons

THE COMPENSATION SUCKS. If you have emailed and pitched a business owner and they have any issues signing up on their own, they aren't directed to call the AE assigned to the account THEY ARE DIRECTED TO CALL AN 877 NYMBER FOR CUSTOMER SUCCESS AND YOU LOSE HALF OF THE TINY COMMISSION THEY PAY The most cutthroat sales atmosphere I have experienced. This place is pure telemarketing scheme, and their business model is not sustainable. TOXIC - BEWARE! In addition, the Yelp Ads Program I once believed in is TOTAL GARBAGE. If a business owner advertises, they are advised not to solicit reviews from their customers. There is software that removes AWESOME 5 STAR reviews and placed them in a hard to find "Unrecommended" location. This happens if the reviewer is a new member, or it is picked up as unreliable by some phantom software. Yelp then sends the rep out there with some bogus info and the message is, WE DON'T SELL REVIEWS??!!! It's the "algorithm. " That's a SALES SUICIDE MISSION and for the lowest pay EVER, as they dangle the possibility of clearing six figures with dignity. I think not.

Pros

Supportive management-My manager is amazing and truly cares about my personal and professional growth. Career development- I love the position I am in, but have been encouraged for others. Yelp offers great opportunities to advance, explore new roles and develop new skills if that's the direction you want. Work life balance-10/10. As a mom of 3, I feel empowered to balance my family responsibilities and career and Yelp does just that. Inclusivity and culture- Yelp’s commitment to belonging and inclusivity is real, I’ve always felt valued here. I love my team so much. Flexibility- Movement between roles and growth are genuinely supported. Working from home also helps a lot with flexibility. Employee recognition-Hard work is acknowledged and celebrated daily.

Cons

Large company changes- Like any sizable company, occasional shifts or leadership changes mean adapting to new processes. Remote work challenges- Not unique to Yelp, but staying connected with coworkers virtually can take extra effort. Compensation-Base is very low compared to a lot of other tech companies, but again you put the work in and it all evens out.
