Pros

Some cool people you meet along the way

Cons

First review and I have to say, pretty bummed because I love Yelp as someone who actively uses the platform. #1 They fail to mention that you will be working accounts with former customers. Surprise - THEY HATE US! Reps were spiraling. You are calling them and they will yell and scream at you. I watched reps quit left and right. Self esteem of great reps spiraling as they get bullied. New business? Great, but you won't get many of those. A lot of accounts where english is a second language and they clearly need a translator. No zoom calls - You are doing this blind, like a customer service rep. Good luck actually getting them to Hop onto a computer or their phone. Your pitch doesn't count if you don't get them to do this. You have to have a certain amount of pitches otherwise you get fired during training. Reps are spiraling - Managers are spiraling. There is so much back and forth for new hires it's crazy. THERE IS SO MUCH RED TAPE! You can't veer off of the script - Must send e-mails provided by the company. This is not a true sales job - These books are 100% luck of the draw. Some people are ready to buy and you could be joe schmo off of the street with no sales experience and all you have to do is read the script jump into account, and add CC. Good luck to you, so many better jobs out there. $37k/ year while they gaslight you -- this is clearly a place where they take advantage of desperate sales reps and desperate customers. Work life balance? Sure....

We appreciate your feedback, and we are sorry to hear that your experience on our team was anything less than what you had hoped for. We understand that the Account Executive role can be challenging. During our interview process, we go to great lengths to set expectations about what can be expected in the role and what the day-to-day looks like for an Account Executive. We want to make sure that everyone who comes onboard has a solid understanding of the highs and lows a career in sales can bring. With that being said, the managers at Yelp are devoted to the career growth of each individual here. Sometimes that can look like various one-on-one conversations throughout the day, and setting sales quotas that encourage people to continually improve. While this environment is inspiring for most, we understand that it may not be for everyone. Thank you for your feedback, and we wish you the very best in your next role.

Pros

Supportive management-My manager is amazing and truly cares about my personal and professional growth. Career development- I love the position I am in, but have been encouraged for others. Yelp offers great opportunities to advance, explore new roles and develop new skills if that's the direction you want. Work life balance-10/10. As a mom of 3, I feel empowered to balance my family responsibilities and career and Yelp does just that. Inclusivity and culture- Yelp’s commitment to belonging and inclusivity is real, I’ve always felt valued here. I love my team so much. Flexibility- Movement between roles and growth are genuinely supported. Working from home also helps a lot with flexibility. Employee recognition-Hard work is acknowledged and celebrated daily.

Cons

Large company changes- Like any sizable company, occasional shifts or leadership changes mean adapting to new processes. Remote work challenges- Not unique to Yelp, but staying connected with coworkers virtually can take extra effort. Compensation-Base is very low compared to a lot of other tech companies, but again you put the work in and it all evens out.
