Pros
the staff i hired was great, some of the yoga concepts are okay
Cons
finally time to tell my truth. look - it all depends on your owners. corporate sets high sales goals based on locations in California and Colorado etc. I started one in a small town with a strong local yoga community who didn’t want corporate yoga. i was hired late in the process, opening was pushed months, and was supposed to have had a support staff way earlier. is it realistic for 1 person to presale 300 memberships when the opening date is pushed back every month? i was under so much pressure. My owners went against the company’s non-religious policy and forced us to play christian music, making many employees uncomfortable. I was overworked for presale and underpaid - when i calculated how much i was getting per hour bc i was forced to work 24/7 and way over 40 hours a week to accomplish their goals it was less than our lowest paid wellness advisors. i guess when i stood up for myself, that’s when they decided to fire me with no communication. they let me finish the grand opening, me thinking my job was secure and then told me on a random tuesday that i was done and they wanted to clean house and start over (and verbally said i didn’t do anything wrong). not very christian of them. apparently corporate had pressured them to fir me for not meeting sales goals but eventually they realized they were impossible sales goals for their location and still haven’t come close to meeting them. wanted 500 members and i got 200, i don't think they’ve ever gotten that high again. my friend still works there and has my old job, i never see her anymore. works nights, weekends, etc. because they have no boundaries. also no benefits as promised. it’s cult-y and i felt very manipulated and used, just know if you are a GM and your target market isn’t as responsive as the main location you will experience high turnover and will get fired just for them to do it to someone else for cheaper. now that i manage a studio that has their stuff together and work life balance i realize how bad it was and feel for anyone still in it.
