Pros

Flexible schedule. Easy money. Not much else.

Cons

Dock your pay if you miss certain requirements of the program. Pay is low during the program which is annoying because they hold the majority of the payment at the end hoping you miss your marks to they can dock. Require you to post on your own social media which is also annoying. I also got to work with some of the people from the office when they came to campus for an event and pretty much got blown off and did not get introduced to key people involved in the program. They were also more worried about capturing content and kept annoying people that came to our event.

Youth Marketing Connection Response

We're very sorry that you felt this way. We do believe that in all jobs and positions, especially those of an independent contractor with clearly outlined program expectations, not meeting program requirements should result in a different pay structure. Nearly all of our brand ambassadors are very happy with the pay structure and believe it more than fairly compensates them for their time and effort. The requirement to post on social media was very clearly outlined in the job description, but we do understand if you find this annoying. Brand ambassador positions may not be right for you. We do hope that you will continue to pursue marketing opportunities either with or without YMC, and continue to push yourself to learn and develop in your career.

Pros

Supportive Team Culture: One of the biggest highlights was the incredibly supportive, collaborative, and welcoming team. I felt valued, encouraged, and trusted throughout the internship. Hands-On Experience: I was given meaningful tasks and responsibilities, especially on accounts like Maybelline and Cécred, which made me feel like a real contributor—not just an intern. Exposure to Variety: The fast-paced agency environment meant every day felt different. Working across multiple brand accounts kept things fresh and exciting. Opportunities for Initiative: I appreciated the ability to express interest in specific projects. My manager, Lexi, always encouraged me to explore what I was curious about, which led to deeper learning and more tailored experiences. Confidence-Building: Presenting, interviewing, and taking ownership of projects significantly boosted my confidence and professional growth.

Cons

Not-Quite-Cons (aka Learning Opportunities): I didn’t get to sit in on many client calls due to scheduling, but even without that, I gained a strong understanding of how YMC manages client relationships through internal discussions, prep work, and campaign execution. And honestly, the biggest con is that I don’t want it to end. I truly wish I could stay on with this team and this incredible company forever. I’ve learned so much, felt deeply supported, and had the most amazing, fulfilling experience.
