Toxic environment - Junior Trader ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Employee Review

Pros

- Good compensation and benefits.

Cons

Very toxic work culture due to a lack of organization and no interest in employees. - No training provided. You will have to find out who can help you get the essential information you need to perform you job duties. - Blame culture: from the top, there are weekly meetings where we basically hear the director getting angry at the managers. Then, the managers pass on their stress to their employees, without looking at facts. Managers will blame you for working too much as much as not finishing your job, which gets very confusing. Organization on who does what is very confused, which allows managers to blame whoever they want for things that they could have done themselves. - You will be squeezed to work as much as possible, and it's never enough,

Pros

As a student you get to make your own 20 hour per week work schedule. I currently have Mondays off, Tue-Thur 2p-6p, and Friday 9a-6p (dress down/office party day). Currently making $25 an hour and will be employed until I gradate with the option to maintain my current role as a Resolution Student Analyst or move to another department. This is a warm corporate environment that wants you to excel.

Cons

As a part-time employee, you don't get any benefits that actually benefit you. Upon graduation as an intern, if the department you work in is full, you won't get hired to work full time in it and will have to transfer to a different one to stay with the company. The Intern program contract says it lasts until you graduate but Zim can terminate your position at their discretion. Full-time workers are obligated to work 45 hours a week (salary position) and won't be paid for overtime.

Pros

Stable company that is easy to manage. Work life balance is great

Cons

Management through and through. Working in the US for an Israeli company is not like working for a US company. Simple as that. Pay is poor Micromanagement and reporting Old school in the worst ways
